We got a later start today after staying up late for the celebrations and giving Pisley some camper training: we hit the road at 9:30 AM.
Luckily, there’s little wind (even if it’s against us), and the sun is shining brightly.
We cruise along at 22 km/h effortlessly. There’s no scenery to speak of—just dry pampas.
We stop at 1:30 PM and need to eat all the “fresh” food; otherwise, it’ll be confiscated at the border.
Even so, we can’t finish the salami and cheese, so we decide to take them out of the camper’s fridge and stuff them into the back pockets of our cycling jerseys.
When we reach the border, it’s as if there’s a magical line between Argentina and Chile: Argentina is sunny and barren, while Chile is rainy with lush grass and flowers.
The border crossing costs us about an hour. The equestrian statue in the photo confirms that we’re in Chile.
Luckily, they didn’t check the cheese and salami in our cycling jersey pockets. 😉
Finally, we arrive at Cerro Castillo.
The hotel is very charming, and it’s time for dinner: meatloaf, farro risotto, salmon, mashed potatoes, and more.
We play some cards before heading to bed.
Good night!
