FORCED PIT STOP

December 6, 2024

Today was a forced rest day because we had to wait for a replacement part to repair Antonio’s bike gear. Fortunately, a friend of Sebastián managed to bring it directly from Chile Chico in record time.

So, today was all about relaxing. We were recommended a pastry shop with good coffee, which we visited by bike. The gardener watering the outdoor garden was quickly bribed with a generous tip and handed us the hose to clean our bikes. Quite an amusing character.

After lunch, we prepared the gear for the upcoming stages, where we’ll need to sleep in tents.

The true athlete (Alberto) didn’t take a break even today and went jogging—at least until he remembered that dogs and pumas run faster than he does, and promptly returned home.

Since we lost a day of cycling today, we’ve decided to make up for it by tackling 100 km of gravel tomorrow and 120 km the day after. We’re hoping for favorable weather; without it, reaching Villa O’Higgins in two days will be impossible.
