All’s Well That Ends Well, Though This Story Could Have Been Less Tense!
After yesterday’s incredible adventure, we woke up on a comfortable sleeping spot and enjoyed a hearty breakfast. But most importantly… the inner tubes, which Pierluigi and Nicola had already patched, were still leaking!
The drama began when Stefano and Alberto set out to test the repairs.
“Alberto, check how the inner tube holds up!”
“Perfect!”
But just a few minutes later, Fabio stepped out to inspect the situation and discovered that Alberto’s optimism was entirely misplaced: the tire was flat! And the same fate befell all the other patched inner tubes—they were all deemed useless!
Antonio stepped in to try and resolve the situation, but unfortunately, his efforts led nowhere.
The only solution left was to split the group: three of us set out by bike while the other three took the car, trusting that the camper—which was taking the northern route to avoid the unrideable trails we had cycled the day before—would eventually meet up with us.
Seneca once said, “Remember to strip events of the turmoil that surrounds them, and you’ll realize that the only terrible things are your own fears.” And indeed, after countless worries, we all reunited—seven of us, including Xavier—over dinner at Las Horquetas Hotel de Campo. We spent the evening laughing and discussing the day’s mishaps over a massive plate of Taiarines con tuco, a good bottle of wine, and some Fernet Branca, Argentine recipe style.
Tomorrow, we’ll set off again—this time all together!
