At 9 AM, we set off in the camper to head to Río Gallegos: the Atlantic coast!
100,000 inhabitants…a metropolis by comparison.
First stop: breakfast at La Delicia de la Abuela, finally some top-notch pastries.
Next, a stroll to the monument of the 44 martyrs of the ARA.
Then, we wander around the city center with another culinary stop at Moma. Finally, we raid a toy store—we need to prepare for the evening.
At 6 PM, we return to Esperanza (the city without hope), where Antonio Ferrari (Pisley) informs us that he’s taking a taxi to join us.
Pisley arrives at 7 PM.
At 8 PM, it’s midnight in Italy, and we celebrate the Italian New Year live with our wives, from Sicily to Val Gardena, and with the Guglielmini household.
Then the evening continues with dinner (in this remote place, it’s just us and the five people working here), the Game of the Tower, Tombola, and finally, the New Year reaches us here as well.
By 12:30 AM, we’re off to bed—tomorrow, 133 km await us as we cross back into Chile.
