WHEN THE FERRY DOES NOT STOP… PLAN B

november 21, 2024

Today, we were supposed to take a 5-hour ferry ride from Hornopirén to Caleta Gonzalo and then continue cycling along the Carretera Austral. However, the only morning ferry was fully booked, and we couldn’t board. We rescheduled for tomorrow, so we took advantage of today to “rest” and went on a bike ride followed by a hike to reach the waterfalls of Rio Blanco, named for the water’s whiteish color.

A refreshing dip under the waterfall revitalized our muscles and lifted our spirits (photos censored due to attire close to “unseeable”). Trees with trunks over 8 meters in diameter and snow-capped mountains sparkling in the day’s gorgeous sunlight surrounded us.

On our way back, as usual, we replenished our energy with a delicious “Charquicán” at the local food and craft market.

Tomorrow, we hit the road again…
